Hello lovelies ❤️
Gone are the days when the African wax/prints clothing and materials were worn majorly by Africans. The fashion world has globally embraced these prints as evident on the runways of reputable fashion labels, celebrities and fashion lovers.
Lately the Ankara print has become very fashion forward, the rave in street style, influencer and independent brand’s fashion showcase. What’s not to love about the prints? They are as colorful, stylish and beautiful as they come in a range of colors, designs and patterns. I love the fact that you can totally rock the Ankara print for any occasion depending on the style of choice, personal carriage and accessories.
For someone like me, who loves and promotes the African heritage I must say I don’t get to wear these African prints as often as I would like to for a number of reasons (story for another day😄). So when I was gifted with this gorgeous Ankara shirt dress by my mother’s friend who visited from Nigeria about two years ago, I was really excited and knew instantly just how I wanted to style it. Thankfully the opportunity presented itself on this day.
For my first look I styled this Ankara shirt dress as a Kimono. I opted for a wide leg cobalt blue pants, black sheer slip dress worn as top and belted at the waist for definition and a pair of blue sandals to match. I finished the look with abundant accessories in blue and gold to give that African Queen vibe😉😎. Feel me… Hahaha😄😄. You could never go wrong styling your summer outfits with a nice handmade basket bag. In this case the larger the better! I also like how the white sunnies gives a contrasting aesthetics to the look.
Look two will follow shortly. Thank you for stopping by and a have beautiful one!
